The Tragically Hip put on their last show in Kingston, Ont., on Saturday night. Millions across the country gathered to celebrate the frontman Gord Downie and the band’s career by holding viewing parties.
Downie announced in May that he was battling gliobastoma, an aggressive and terminal brain cancer. Downie’s oncologist Dr. James Perry has also joined him for the four-week Canadian tour to ensure he is well enough to perform. “When I wondered if he would have the stamina and not get too tired and run into problems, I never imagined him leaping around in a pink leather suit with a feathered cap. It says so much about the guy,” Perry tells Times Colonist.
Here is a look at some fan and performance photos throughout the band’s Canadian farewell tour.
