PHOTOS: Toronto seeks to create sprawling green space in the downtown core
A proposed new park in downtown Toronto could drastically change the way people interact in the core. The planned green space, titled “Rail Deck Park,” would see platforms placed atop rail lines that currently snake their way through the heart of downtown.
Totaling 21 acres, the park would create green space for the city’s residents, who are often choosing to live and work in the core. “This is our last chance to secure a piece of land that could transform the way we experience our city,” said Mayor John Tory in a press release.
While the plans haven’t been finalized and the project could still be years away, Mayor Tory’s announcement that the City of Toronto would seek to protect the area for future development is a step in turning the the city’s downtown a little greener.
