Natural disasters impacted hundreds of thousands of people all across the globe this week. On Tuesday a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Mexico City. Buildings were reduced to rubble and hundreds of people were killed. Hurricane Maria also ravaged the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico. The U.S. territory was left completely without power and officials said it could take months to get electricity restored.
In the world of politics, President Donald Trump made his United Nations debut with a speech that sparked a back-and-forth battle between Trump and North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un. Trump referred to him as "Rocket Man" and threatened to "totally destroy" the isolationist nation. Kim Jong Un responded by calling Trump "mentally deranged" and stated that the president's speech confirmed to him that his nuclear program was "the correct path".
