After donning wispy bangs at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on February 26, Katie Holmes made headlines later in the week when she was snapped walking around L.A. with a messy ‘do. Those bangs? Nowhere to be found. So why did the 33-year-old snap on a fake set for the Academy Awards? Because bangs are all the rage!

“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” actress Rooney Mara – who we’re used to seeing with dramatic ‘dos – sported yet another one when she hit the red carpet at the Oscars severely blunt bangs and pulled back dark tresses on Oscar night, the perfect contrast to her white Givenchy Couture gown.

Also at the big awards show, Anna Farris – who donned a long-sleeve sequined Diane von Furstenberg gown – debuted a super-short bob complete with new bangs, which gave the “What’s Your Number” actress a seriously sultry look.

Rose Byrne of “Damages” fame looked super sophisticated in her sleek bob-and-bangs ‘do, which she paired with a sparkling one-shoulder Vivienne Westwood for the Academy Awards.

Though Ellie Kemper plays plain-Jane receptionist Erin on NBC’s “The Office,” Kemper – who also co-starred in the breakout comedy flick “Bridesmaids” – looked anything but plain when she hit the red carpet on Oscar night in a bronze Armani Prive gown she accessorized with an updo and some heavy bangs, which fell below her eyebrows.

Rihanna – who recently went blonde for an Elle magazine photo shoot – loves to changes up her tresses, and frequently rocks a bangin’ style.

Zooey Deschanel has always been about bangs. "I’m bangs and eyes," she said in the February issue of Allure. "It's who I am. There have been periods when I've grown my bangs out, but I always cut them back, so it's like, why go through the trouble?"

Reese Witherspoon has hopped on the bang bandwagon as well, but the actress admitted she only cut in some wispy bangs after she was hit by a car while jogging, which resulted in a scar on her forehead.
