Crayola crayons transformed into works of art

Hoang Tran, 30, has some amazing artistic ability and incredible patience, as evidenced by the meticulously-crafted crayon masterpieces he creates. He begins by selecting the colour of crayon that would best match his subject (he uses both normal-sized crayons as well as larger ones), then scratch out guidelines on the surface of the wax crayon. He then roughs out the general shape, then uses an assortment of tools to work in the fine detail. For the pieces with colour, Tran melts wax and paints it on, then adds further detail with carving once it has cooled. Tran tells Yahoo Canada News that he carves the things he likes, which tends to be a lot of pop culture icons, but he also takes custom requests at his Etsy store.
