Revealed: The £840m collection of artworks stolen by Nazis

The world has been granted a first glimpse of an incredible collection of 1,500 artworks confiscated by the Nazis in the 1930s and 1940s. The astonishing discovery, featuring paintings by Picasso, Mattisse and others, has been welcomed by art historians who feared such precious work had been lost forever. German authorities found the collection in a Munich flat owned by Cornelius Gurlitt, the son of a Nazi art dealer, in 2012, but the discovery has only just come to light. The collection of work has been valued at one billion Euros (£840m).
