John Lennon’s 75th Birthday: His Life In Pictures

John Lennon’s 75th birthday would have fallen on October 9, 2015. The musical legend and Beatles frontman was assassinated 35 years ago at the entrance of his apartment building in Manhattan, ten years after The Beatles disbanded. Born in Liverpool in 1940, Lennon founded his find band, the Quarrymen, which later evolved into the Beatles, who are the most commercially successful pop band in history. After the Beatles, Lennon had a successful solo music career and became widely known as a peace activist. His criticism of the Vietnam War led then-president Richard Nixon to seek his deportation from America. Lennon released an album with his wife Yoko Ono two weeks before he was murdered.
