Two horrific years in aviation's history

On Tuesday morning, Germanwings flight 4U9525 from Barcelona, Spain to Duesseldorf, Germany slammed into a remote, snowy area of the French Alps. Although it’s still early in the search, authorities believe the 150 people onboard the airbus are dead.

As the arduous search and recover unfolds over the next few weeks, today’s headline serves as a stark reminder of the tragic amount of plain crashes in recent memory. 2014 alone was one of the worst years in aviation history, with four crashes killing more than 100 people.
