Pickup truck strikes and kills woman walking in roadway south of Turlock, CHP reports
A woman died after being struck by a pickup truck while walking on a road just south of Turlock on Monday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP responded at about 6:30 p.m. to Harding Road east of Lander Avenue. A news release said the woman was walking in the roadway when she was hit by an eastbound 2015 GMC.
Her name was not available Tuesday morning from the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office. The CHP said she died at the scene.
The release identified the pickup driver as Emmanuel Silva, 69, of Turlock. He remained at the scene and was found to be not impaired while driving, the release said.
The scene is about a quarter-mile south of a Dec. 15 collision that killed five people on Lander at Greenway Avenue.
