Soul singer Aretha Franklin has died aged 76.

The long-reigning ‘Queen of Soul’, who sang with matchless style on such classics as Think and her signature song, Respect, died at her home in Detroit.

The much-loved soul giant had a career lasting decades, recorded more than 100 singles, and was widely recognised as one of the greatest singers of all time.

Franklin was the first female to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, and is the most charted artist in the history of the Hot 100.
