Piers Morgan has said there should be a “full investigation” after the late Queen's long-serving lady-in-waiting is said to have repeatedly asked a Black British woman where she was really from.

Lady Susan Hussey, who is Prince William’s godmother, apparently quizzed charity boss Ngozi Fulani at an event at Buckingham Palace, and has since said sorry and has stepped down from her position.

Weighing in on his Uncensored talk show, Morgan said the comments were “shocking”.

“They are crass, they are offensive,” he said.

“That’s why Lady Hussey has now rightly resigned,” he went on.

Morgan, 57, said in the wake of Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince William had made it clear that the royal family was not racist and he said he believes that.

But the TV star insisted it was important to “do better”.

“Nobody capable of such witless and offensive comments should be in the royal household and it’s right that Lady Hussey has gone,” said the broadcaster.

Morgan went on: “There should also now be a full, I think, investigation to see if anybody else in that household shares similar sentiments and views because if they do they shouldn’t be there.”

An honorary member of the Buckingham Palace household has resigned Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 after repeatedly asking a Black woman who runs a charity for survivors of domestic abuse what country she “really came from.’’ The conversation was detailed on Twitter by Ngozi Fulani, chief executive of Sistah Space, an east London refuge that provides specialist support for women of African and Caribbean heritage. Hussey, 83, questioned Fulani, who is from domestic violence charity Sistah Space, at a reception hosted by King Charles's wife Camilla this week.

Fulani said on Twitter that Hussey asked "what part of Africa are you from" and that although she said she was British, Hussey asked: “Where do you really come from?”

A spokesperson for the Prince of Wales said the comments were unacceptable and that “racism has no place in our society”.

It said the comments were "unacceptable and deeply regrettable" and that the individual concerned "would like to express her profound apologies for the hurt caused and has stepped aside from her honorary role with immediate effect".
