'Pirates of the Caribbean' Producer Has Not Yet Ruled Out Johnny Depp's Return

In a recent interview with The Times, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has officially revealed that he has not completely ruled out the changes of Johnny Depp's return to the franchise.

As Depp's proceedings with his ex-wife Amber Heard unfolded, Depp commented that after Disney removed him from Pirates 6 he confirmed that he had no intention of going back to the film. He had revealed that he originally wanted to give the character a "proper goodbye." He added, "There's a way to end a franchise like that...I planned on continuing until it was time to stop."

Bruckheimer confirmed that the next Pirates film is currently still in development, "Yes. We're talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts -- one with her, one without." When asked if he Depp's Jack Sparrow has been included in the script he said, "Not at this point, [but] the future is yet to be decided." The producer has not given a definitive answer to remove Depp completely from the franchise. Margot Robbie has been linked to the franchise since June 2020.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix is reportedly exploring live streaming service.
