Pizza delivery man shoves pizza at would-be robbers

Halifax police say a pizza delivery man was held up at knifepoint on Tangmere Crescent early Saturday.

A pizza delivery man defended himself by shoving pizza at four males who were trying to rob him at knifepoint early Saturday, Halifax police say.

Staff Sgt. Lindsay Hernden said it happened as the man was delivering pizza to Tangmere Cresent in Clayton Park at 2 a.m.

The man got out of the car and four males approached him. One of them had a knife and demanded pizza and money.

"Then the victim at that time essentially shoved the pizza at the group of them," Hernden said.

Three of them ran away, but the one with the knife jumped into the delivery man's car and took off.

The pizza delivery man was not hurt.

Police responding to the call for help later found the car abandoned at Glenforest Drive and Willett Street.

Police are looking for the suspect, described as white and between the ages of 16 and 18.
