A small plane made a big splash in southern Alberta on Monday night, coming down in the Pine Coulee reservoir just west of Stavely.
RCMP said the Cessna 180 crashed into the water shortly after 5 p.m.
The pilot and the lone passenger were not injured in the crash.
They were both able to get to shore and contact authorities.
The aircraft had recently undergone repairs and was on a test flight when the engine failed, according to RCMP.
Investigators from Transport Canada will examine the plane, which has already been pulled from the water.
