Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong, Ho Ching to get top awards in Johor

SINGAPORE — Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching will be receiving top awards in Johor during their visit to the Malaysian state on Friday (6 May).

Lee and Ho will be attending a Johor state award investiture ceremony at the Istana Besar in Johor Bahru, at the invitation of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement on Thursday.

Lee will receive the First Class, Grand Commander of the Order, Dato’ Sri Paduka Mahkota Johor (SPMJ – Order of the Crown of Johor) – the highest honour in Johor – from Sultan Ibrahim.

Ho will receive the First Class, Grand Commander of the Order, Dato’ Sri Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Johor (SMIJ – Order of Sultan Ibrahim of Johor). She will be the first Singaporean to receive the SMIJ.

Lee and Ho will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, and officials from the PMO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Communications and Information.

The First Class, Grand Commander (SPMJ), is styled as Dato’ Sri Paduka Mahkota Johor and carries the honorific title Dato’, according to the PMO statement.
