This Poignant Note A Stranger Left For A Doting Dad Will Warm Your Heart

When David Rosenman spent the afternoon with his nine-year-old daughter, she requested he give her his undivided attention.

“Daddy, can you not read the paper or doodle or check email today? Can we just be together?” she asked him.

The physician from Rochester, Minnesota, had brought a newspaper, his notebook and pen, and his phone with him.

“This was going to be an outing not unlike others we’d had before: while sitting at the same table, we’d do our own things – she’d keep herself occupied with something, and I’d catch-up on emails, organise my week, get work done,” he said.

He duly obliged and spend the afternoon chatting with her daughter. Writing on Facebook after, he said: “So today, we were together. She showed me her yarn project. I recalled the day she was born.

David Rosenman, who shared the story

“We compared notes about whether or not couples at other tables were on “dates” (she likes to impersonate people on dates – resting her smiling face on her hand and practising a starry-eyed stare). She told me about her friends and their hamsters.”

But when Rosenman went to the counter for a moment, a stranger left a note on their table. You can read it above.

In the note, they said they “work at a school where many don’t have fathers and those who do have never in their lives had him watch and listening and devote 100 per cent of his attention to them.”

She described his attention as a “gift”, which made him question as to why he waited for his daughter to ask for it.

The note, which he posted on Facebook, has been more than 7,500 times at the time of writing.

He said that a woman had left the note face down on the table, according to his daughter, but was no where to be seen when he returned.

He concluded the heartwarming post by saying: “Please don’t wait for your child or other loved one to plead for your attention like mine did – he or she might not. Expect that no one will leave a note for you – such beauty in this world is far too rare.

“I invite you to share the gift of this experience with me: choose to be present today – even for just a little while – for someone you love. If you see it happen somewhere, consider leaving a note – it sure does leave an impression.“
