On Point: John Ottenheimer in the ring for PC leadership
When nominations for the leadership of the provincial Progressive Conservatives opened last week, former cabinet minister John Ottenheimer was the first to toss his hat into the ring.
The race was back on to become the party's leader, and thus the next premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, after Frank Coleman backed out, citing a serious family issue that made it impossible for him to continue on in politics.
Ottenheimer said with his experience in politics, he believes he can bring stability to the party and leadership.
Meanwhile, lawyer Ches Crosbie discusses the possibility of running for the PC leadership, and why he didn't seek it when the race opened the first time.
Crosbie said while he may not be interested in pursuing the leadership of the party, he hasn't ruled out a different career in politics.
