A man plunged to his death near Miami River Landing restaurants and Publix
A man jumped from a retail walkway at Miami’s River Landing Shops & Residences Tuesday afternoon, fatally landing near the exit to Publix and in front of the door to office space occupied by Jackson Health System and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office.
For several hours, a tent covered the body as police investigated, shoppers exited Publix about 20 yards away and customers of P.Pole and Fichelle French bakery dined at outdoor tables across the breezeway.
The man appeared to have jumped from the sixth floor retail walkway. Miami police Officer Kiara Delva said this happened around 4:30 p.m. at 1400 NW North River Dr. and was being investigated as a “suicide attempt related call.”
Until around 7 p.m., police allowed only residents of the twin high rise apartment buildings to come off Northwest 17th Avenue to eastbound North River Drive.
