Calgary police have located and charged a suspect believed to be connected to a shooting in Copperfield last month that left one man dead.

Michael Andrew Onischuk, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Jessie James Hanaghan, 37, police said in a Monday news release.

The suspect was wanted on Canada-wide warrants issued earlier this month. Police had found Hanaghan dead inside a home at the 100 block of Copperpond Common S.E. on Oct. 30.

Onischuk has also been charged with the attempted murder of a woman that police said was known to him.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
