Police arrest three and seize drugs, 'katana-style sword' in investigation

Wood Buffalo RCMP have laid charges against three Fort McMurray residents following a drug trafficking investigation, seizing cocaine, money and a Katana-style sword.

Police confirmed on July 15 the investigation led to the arrests of two individuals on July 7. One other person was arrested on July 13. The investigation was done by the Wood Buffalo RCMP Drug Section and the Crime Reduction Unit.

Dallas Thomas James Reid, 19, has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with the condition of release. Taylor Lethbridge, 20, has been charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime.

Reid and Lethbridge were released from police custody following a judicial hearing on July 8. Both are scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on August 10.

Marie Samantha Butt, 20, was arrested on July 13 and has been charged with trafficking cocaine. Butt was released from custody following a judicial hearing on July 14. She is scheduled to appear in provincial court on July 27.

An arrest warrant has been issued for two other individuals in relation to the investigation, but police have yet to name them publicly.
