2nd suspect in December break-in, stabbing, turns himself in

A 26-year-old man has turned himself in to police after a December break-in and stabbing in Vanier. It comes after another man was arrested and charged earlier this month.

Police had been looking for the two suspects after a man in his 20s was stabbed during the break-in at 3 a.m. on Dec. 19 at an Ottawa Community Housing property on Richelieu Avenue.

The victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest and arm. He was treated in hospital for serious injuries.

According to police, one suspect stabbed the victim while the other used a handgun to confront another person in the unit. The other person wasn't hurt.

Earlier this month, police arrested a 32-year-old man and charged him with robbery, breaking and entering, aggravated assault, pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon.

The second suspect turned himself in to Ottawa police headquarters on Elgin Street March 21. He was charged with robbery, breaking and entering, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.

The 26-year-old appeared in court March 22 and was scheduled to make another appearance March 29.
