Police confirm double homicide in downtown Chilliwack, B.C.

Two people have died after a stabbing in downtown Chilliwack, B.C. on Friday night.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said RCMP responded to an altercation at the corner of Young and Yale roads just after 10 p.m. PT.

When officers arrived, they found three victims with stab wounds. Two of them died of their injuries and the third required medical attention.

"There is limited information to indicate whether this attack occurred between individuals known to each other or if it was random," said IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Meghan Foster.

The surrounding area was closed off Saturday as investigators gathered evidence and interviewed potential witnesses in the neighbourhood.

"Right now we're working on establishing motive and determining what led up to the altercation," Foster said.
