Police investigating attempted murder in Ahuntsic-Cartierville after man shot

Montreal police are investigating what they say is an attempted murder in Ahuntsic-Cartierville following a shooting that left a man wounded.

Officers were called to Salaberry Street, near James Morrice Street, around 6:30 p.m. where they located a 32-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his lower body.

The man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say.

The incident happened in the parking lot of a strip mall in the area. According to a spokesperson for the SPVM, a heated conflict between the victim and several suspects transpired inside a parked vehicle.

Police believe the victim was shot when he stepped out of the vehicle.

The man took refuge inside a nearby store and the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
