Police investigating after body found in abandoned Abbotsford, B.C. home

Police issue warning after Abbotsford woman wakes up to find stranger standing beside bed

A person has been found dead in what appears to be an abandoned home in Abbotsford, B.C.

Police went to the home in the 1400 block of McCallum road at 11:30 p.m. on Friday. The unlocked house was "in a state of disarray" and didn't have any power.

Officers went inside and found a body in one of the bedrooms. A statement said it was "in an advanced stage of decomposition."

The department's Major Crime Unit and BC Coroner's Service are working to identify the individual and determine a cause of death.

Const. Ian MacDonald said police are also working to determine who owns the home, which isn't far from the University of the Fraser Valley campus.
