Police said they were investigating the death of a 7-year-old child in the area of 32nd Street and Crysler Avenue in Independence. The area is seen in this Google Maps image.

Police are investigating the death of a 7-year-old child in Independence, a police spokeswoman said Thursday.

The death occurred in the evening hours of Wednesday in the area of 32nd Street and Crysler Avenue, said Officer Kelley Rupert, with the Independence Police Department.

No other information about the investigation or the circumstances of the death was immediately available Thursday morning.
