Police investigating after East St. Louis man found dead in his home

A man was killed at his residence Wednesday night, police said.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Keith L. Giles,36, of the 700 block of N. 75th St. Dye said Giles was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:42 p.m., about 45 minutes after East St. Louis Police called on Illinois State Police to assist in the investigation.

According a state police press release early Thursday morning, Giles had been struck by gunfire.

Illinois State Police said the investigation is in its infancy and no further details will released.

Radio transmissions picked up on a scanner indicated the police were looking for a tan-colored Chevy Tahoe with oversized rims that may have been involved in the incident.
