Police say two people have been arrested in Newfoundland and Labrador for separate robberies in the province.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a 49-year-old man was arrested after police responded to a call about an armed robbery in Corner Brook on Christmas Eve.

They say the suspect entered a business with an axe and fled on foot after stealing goods.

The Constabulary says a woman was arrested in connection with two robbery investigations in Labrador City.

Police say the investigations are ongoing and both the man and woman appeared in provincial court Saturday.
