Police probe fatal stabbing in Bowness

John MacIver identified as Bowness stabbing victim

A 17-year-old male is facing a second-degree murder charge after a fatal stabbing in northwest Calgary late Monday night.

Police were called to the 6300 block of Bowness Road N.W. just before 11 p.m. MT.

The 38-year-old man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died.

Police arrested the teen at the scene.

It’s believed the suspect and the victim knew each other through a third party and that a verbal altercation led up to the incident, police said.

William Alexander Clarke was walking back to his apartment in the building now cordoned off by police when he saw the victim.

"The guy, he was almost white. He was almost dead when I seen him. And I figured for sure he wasn't going to make it,” he said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
