Police recover vehicle of missing man Herry Patel, body inside

Winnipeg police have recovered a red Hyundai Elantra they say belongs to 31-year-old missing man, Hirenkumar (Herry) Patel.

Members of Winnipeg Police Service Dive Unit found the vehicle in the Red River near the Fort Garry Bridge on Friday. There was a body inside of it, according to investigators, but there is no word on the identity or how the person died.

Patel was last seen when he left his home around 11 p.m. on Sunday night to go to work at 7-Eleven on Watt Street. He never made it to his shift.

Patel's wife, Hilpa Patel, says she is shocked at the disappearance.

"He's a very particular person. If he misses a call from somebody, whenever he sees his phone, immediately he replies," she said in an interview with CBC on Wednesday.

On Friday, a group of approximately 20 people stood and watched as crews pulled the car from the water.
