Calgary police are asking for help to identify a man they suspect sexually assaulted a girl on a city bus last month.

Officials released photos Wednesday taken by surveillance cameras on board Calgary Transit route No. 11 on Jan. 19.

The images show a man boarding and exiting the bus in the southwest community of Somerset. A ball cap partially obscures his face.

A female youth boarded the bus around 3 p.m. that day, around the same time as the man.

He sat down next to her, police say.

She was touched inappropriately while seated and then again when she stood up to get off the bus, police say.

She exited the bus near Shawinigan Drive and Shawbrooke Drive S.W.

The man left near Shannon Avenue S.W., between Shannon Garden and Shannon Common S.W.

He's described as having fair complexion and a medium build, and wearing a brown winter jacket and a hat.

His hair was grey on the sides of his head and he appeared to be balding on top. He's estimated to be between 60 and 70 years old.

Calgary police ask any witnesses or people who might recognize the man to contact their non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can be submitted to 1-800-222-8477 or calgarycrimestoppers.org.
