Police rescue woman who fell through frozen KY lake while trying to get her dogs
A woman trying to get her dogs off an icy pond fell through the ice and was rescued by law enforcement officers Sunday, according to the Florence Police Department.
The woman fell into a lake behind condos on Rio Grand Circle in Florence, the police department said in a news release.
Florence police officers and deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at 6:39 p.m. and found the woman “in the freezing water approximately 100 feet from shore.”
Police said the officers crawled out on the ice and pulled the woman to safety. She was in the water for about 10 minutes, police said.
The woman was taken to the University of Cincinnati Hospital and later released.
“The dogs were also rescued from the lake and have made a full recovery,” the release stated.
