Police find missing man's body in Vaudreuil-Dorion lake

Police have located the body of a man who went missing Monday in Lac la Carrière in Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, just west of Montreal.

The body of the 19-year-old was recovered from the lake by divers Tuesday morning.

The man tried to swim across the lake — known as Lac Chérie by locals — with two other men, but he did not make it to shore, provincial police spokesperson Sgt. Marie-Michèle Moore said.

The two other men were taken to hospital to be treated for shock, Moore said.

According to the Quebec branch of the Lifesaving Society, there have been 29 drownings in the province so far this year.
