Police search for suspect after Kansas City, Kansas officer stabbed while starting shift

Police are searching for a suspect after an officer was stabbed while starting his shift in Kansas City, Kansas Saturday night.

An officer started their shift around 9:58 p.m., when he was approached by someone “acting bizarre” in a parking lot near 47th Street and State Avenue, according to a news release from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

The individual took out a sharp object, stabbed the officer twice and fled northbound, police said. The officer had injuries that were not life threatening.

Police have not located the individual and are investigating the incident.
