Police searching for driver in East Vancouver hit and run

Vancouver Police are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run collision in East Vancouver Saturday night.

A 62-year-old woman was walking across the intersection of Victoria Drive near William Street around 7:30 p.m. PT, when she was hit by a silver Volkswagen Jetta.

The vehicle, which was going southbound, did not stop and was last seen turning west within two blocks of the collision, according to Vancouver Police.

Police say the woman was hit by the front of the car and was tossed several metres, before landing in the northbound traffic lane.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in serious condition.

Crash footage located

"We have video of the incident and photos of the vehicle," said Const. Jason Doucette with the VPD, in a statement.

"It's only a matter of time before we identify the person behind the wheel."

Police said the vehicle will have a cracked headlight on the driver's side and possibly other front-end damage.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the VPD or Crime Stoppers.
