A woman is dead and police are searching for another after a car collided with a pole and flipped over in southwestern Quebec early Friday morning.
A citizen found the wreckage around 2 a.m. Friday on Route 219 in Saint-Patrice-de-Sherrington, about 60 kilometres south of Montreal, and called police.
The Sûreté du Québec says the driver was likely speeding when the car hit a pole and flipped over.
The victim died on impact.
Around 6:45 a.m., police spotted a man walking along the road near where the collision happened. He had injuries but they are not life-threatening.
The man, who is in his 30s, was brought to hospital and investigators plan to meet with him later Friday.
An SQ spokesperson says they believe he was involved in the crash, but cannot confirm who was at the wheel.
Police deployed their canine team to look for clues. Investigators are at the scene trying to determine what happened.
