York Regional Police are seeking witnesses after a single-vehicle crash in Richmond Hill killed one youth and injured six others over the weekend.

In a news release Wednesday, investigators said the fatal crash happened on Saturday at around 8:30 a.m. in the area of Bayview Avenue and Bethesda Sideroad.

When officers arrived, they found a black two-door hatchback in the ditch, the release said. Police have not released the ages or sex of the youths.

Two were rushed to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. One of the youth has since died in hospital.

Three others were taken to hospital with serious injuries and two with minor injuries.

Investigators are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle in the area at the time of the crash.

Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision is asked to contact police.
