Police surround home in Winnipeg's North End after weapons call

Police cars surrounded part of Winnipeg's North End on Thursday morning after reports of a person with a weapon.

Police rushed to a house in the 600-block of Pritchard Avenue, between McKenzie Street and McGregor Street, around 3 a.m.

A party at the house turned violent with some people fighting, according to police, who said they received a number of calls from inside the home.

A neighbour told CBC News they could hear police using loudspeakers to call someone out of the house.

Police did not say what type of weapon was involved or if it was used. They say no one was seriously hurt and no arrests have been made.

Officers were still in the area as of 9:30 a.m. interviewing a number of people. They expect to be there for some time.
