Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (March 19)

Broward County’s top athletes continue to impress as the spring sports finished up over a month of regular season competition.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, March 23, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Devin Fitz-Gerald, Stoneman Douglas, baseball: Fitz-Gerald hit two home runs and had five RBI to keep the Eagles unbeaten following a 10-0 win over Western.

Arlette Caravaca, Western, softball: Caravaca went 5 for 6 with three home runs, six runs scored and six RBI to lead the Wildcats to wins over Cypress Bay and Pompano Beach.

Brandon Bennett, American Heritage, boys’ track and field: Bennett ran a time of 10.51 to win the 100 meters at the Bob Hayes Invitational in Jacksonville.

Christiana Coleman, Dillard, girls’ track and field: Coleman won the 1600 and 3200 meter races and on the winning 3,200-meter relay to help the Panthers win the BCAA championship.
