Poll results: BND Football Player of the Week commands 78% of the readers’ votes
Kaden Rakers of Breese Central High School is the winner of last week’s the Belleville News-Democrat Football Player of the Week high school poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.
Rakers, a senior, rushed 10 times for 145 yards and scored 4 rushing touchdowns in the Cougar’s 41-7 victory against Salem.
Rakers received 78% of the votes after as the Panthers stay competitive for the season.
Here are the other candidates:
Gavin Lich, Waterloo High School, Senior, LB: Lich recorded 18 total tackles, including 3 tackles for loss, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 sack in a 21-12 victory over Jerseyville.
Armon Vinson, Belleville East High School, Senior, QB: Vinson completed 24 for 44 passes for 327 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for another score in the Lancers 31-28 win against O’Fallon.
Dierre Hill Jr., Althoff Catholic High School, Junior, RB/DB: Hill had 14 carries for 161 yards on the ground and 1 touchdown in Althoff’s 38-27 victory over Collinsville. Also, Hill had 5 tackles and 2 interceptions, one of which was returned for a 36-yard touchdown.
