'Pop Culture Jeopardy': What to know about the spin-off game show hosted by a celebrity

Facts about movies and celebrities have long been perceived as trivial but they're about to earn three people a lot of money.

"Pop Culture Jeopardy" is premiering Wednesday, bringing a twist to the classic game show and of course, a celebrity host.

The "Jeopardy" spinoff series will fuse the academic rigor of the original trivia game with the evolving realm of pop culture. Contestants will compete in teams of three to answer questions from a variety of entertainment topics.

Categories will range from music genres, superhero franchises, Broadway and MMA sports to some of the most iconic celebrities. A trailer for the series hinted at several categories, including "Thirst Traps," "Actors Who Direct" and "Move Witch Get Out The Way."

Who is hosting 'Pop Culture Jeopardy!'

Comedian and writer Colin Jost is hosting all 40 episodes of the new Prime Video game show. The "Saturday Night Live" star, who is married to actor Scarlett Johansson, is encouraging viewers to power up their brains and buzzers for the new series.

When does 'Pop Culture Jeopardy!' premiere?

The first three episodes of "Pop Culture Jeopardy" premiere on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.

Where to watch 'Pop Culture Jeopardy!'?

All 40 episodes of "Pop Culture Jeopardy" are slated to premiere on Amazon's streaming service Prime Video. The first three episodes premiere on Dec. 4, 2024 and new ones will drop every Wednesday.

The series joins a lineup of Prime Video shows releasing on Wednesday's including "Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?" "Buy It Now" and "Amazon Wish List Games."

How will 'Pop Culture Jeopardy' work?

The tournament-style game will be broken up into four rounds. A total of 81 teams are competing in the series and must advance past the knockouts, quarter finals and and semi-final rounds. The final three teams will then compete for a chance to win a grand prize of $300,000.
