Port Douglas man arrested in connection with 'unusual' Pemberton pedestrian incident

Whistler RCMP say they have found a white Chevrolet pickup truck and its driver, who they believe struck a female pedestrian on Highway 99 and then drove off with her.

A 35-year-old Port Douglas, B.C. man is under arrest in relation to the incident.

The incident happened close to 11:15 a.m. PT on Saturday. Witnesses told police that the pickup left the scene and headed north on Highway 99 near Portage Road.

Police say another vehicle — a blue SUV — also pulled up beside the pickup and stopped.

After searching the area and the local clinic, police turned to the public for information to help find the suspect and victim.

On Sunday, police said they had located the vehicle and the "parties involved," but did not elaborate on the condition of the victim or if charges were pending for the suspect.

Police are still asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6126, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
