A Port Hope couple in their 90s has been found safe and sound, Ottawa police said on Saturday.

The couple left Port Hope on Friday morning for Wakefield, Que., a popular tourist spot. The drive typically takes under four hours. There had been concern that the couple was lost in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

The couple was located on Saturday, Ottawa Police Service said in a news release.

Their granddaughter, Jocelyn Geddie, thanked well-wishers for their outpouring of support.

Police had said they had been concerned for the couple's safety.
