SCUGOG: Lakeridge Health Port Perry hospital will be resuming services at their 'New Life Centre.'

"Lakeridge Health is resuming obstetrical services at Port Perry Hospital's New Life Centre. These services were temporarily transitioned to the Oshawa Hospital, on April 14th, to accommodate COVID-19 and acute care admissions," a May 21st post on the Lakeridge Health website explained. "Pregnant patients, [who] were under the care of Family Medicine at the Oshawa Hospital, will be transferred back to the Family Medicine team at Port Perry Hospital. The Obstetrics team at Port Perry Hospital is in the process of communicating with patients."

In a video, posted in April, Dr. Andrea Gauster explained the temporary shutdown was due to "the need to convert [the] labour and delivery ward to a ward for acute care beds" as COVID-19 cases rose in Durham Region.
