Possible child luring case investigated in northeast Calgary

Police are investigating a possible case of attempted child luring in northeast Calgary.

Officers were called to a home on 300 block of 15th Avenue N.E. for a report that a man had approached a young boy playing in a backyard at about 11:30 a.m. MT on Thursday.

The child's mother heard a man's voice coming from the backyard.

When she looked out the window, she saw the suspect speaking to her son and believed he was attempting to coax him off the property, police said in a release.

The woman quickly grabbed her child and took him inside the house.

The man left the area and officers were unable to locate him, police said.

The suspect is described as white, approximately five feet 10, with a heavy build, brown hair and a scruffy grey beard.

He was wearing a black T-shirt and had a deep voice.
