Power outage caused by snake in Independence Saturday morning, city officials say
More than 1,000 customers were affected by a power outage Saturday morning in Independence, not due to weather, but because of a curious critter, the city said.
An outage near East 47th Street and Norfleet Road was determined to be caused by a snake, the city said in a Facebook post.
“Critters occasionally get curious and cause power interruptions,” the city said in the post. “Line crews are working to restore power as quick as possible.”
Details on how the snake caused the outage were not immediately available and city officials could not be reached after attempts from The Star Saturday.
The outage was reported after 8 a.m. and was restored by the afternoon.
