Power outages cause two Macon schools to close Monday, Bibb County district says
Howard Middle School and Howard High School were forced to close Monday due to power outages following the aftermath of Sunday’s severe thunderstorms, the Bibb County School District announced.
The school district had been in communication with Georgia Power throughout the night, and power was expected to be back on by the end of the day.
The district said it anticipates that classes for the two schools will resume Tuesday.
“The safety of our students and staff is one of our top priorities,” the district said in a news release. “We also want to thank Georgia Power crews for continuing to work throughout the night to restore power to other school campuses.”
All other Bibb County schools and facilities were operating normally Monday.
