Some power restored after windstorm, Mattawa ski hill to open Saturday

·1 min read

Strong winds knocked out power to more than 2,000 Hydro One customers from Port Loring to Powassan and Mattawan Thursday night.

The storm blew a transformer offline in Mattawan and knocked out Antoine Mountain's plan to open Friday, as well as power to almost 1,200 other homes and businesses.

Sarina Goad, the resort’s head of social media and marketing, said Hydro One expects to have the issue fixed by 4 p.m. and the hill will open Saturday morning.

"We remain hopeful that all will be restored on Friday and we can open Saturday," Goad said.

UPDATE: Antoine Mountain reported at 2 p.m. that power was restored by Hydro One but the active outage website still showed 1,000-plus customers still without electricity.
