Princess Beatrice has been spotted in the royal box at Wimbledon as she and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took in the ladies' semi-final matches at the tennis tournament.

Beatrice and Mozzi were also joined by the princess's aunt Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, and the two royal women twinned in polka dot outfits.

Beatrice, 32, is expecting her first child with Mozzi in the Autumn, following their small wedding in Windsor in the summer of 2020.

The couple, whose families have been friends for many years, had to scale back their wedding plans to fit in with the coronavirus restrictions and had a small event in the Chapel of All Saints at the Royal Lodge on 17 July.

Beatrice wore her hair loose around her shoulders and wore a white polka-dot taffeta midi dress by Self-Portrait.

The £340 dress is not a maternity piece, and features a gathered bust, puff sleeves and a flared hem panel. She adjusted the belt to sit on top of her bump.

Two seats along from the pregnant princess in the royal box was Sophie, who is married to Prince Edward, Beatrice's uncle.

The countess wore her hair in curls and was spotted keeping her sunglasses on during the match.

She also wore a polka dot outfit, donning a cream top with small black dots across it.

In action with a royal audience was Australia's Ash Barty, taking on former Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber from Germany, for a place in Saturday's final.

The second match listed on Centre Court will be the other semi-final, Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic versus Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus.

Zara Tindall, Beatrice's cousin, was spotted at Wimbledon on Wednesday, with her husband Mike.

However they were not in the royal box, but instead enjoyed Centre Court hospitality.

The Duchess of Cambridge attended Wimbledon on day five, last Friday, but made an early exit to self-isolate after being told she had been in contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.

It means she could also miss out on the Gentleman's Singles finals day on 11 July, when she would usually present the trophy to the winner.

The Queen's cousin, the Duke of Kent, has also been a regular at the tournament this year. He is patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

However the Queen herself is not a big tennis fan, and has only attended a few times in her whole reign. She has not been there this year and is unlikely to make an appearance.

She did attend the Royal Windsor Horse Show, her favourite event, at the end of last week.

Wimbledon 2021 has been part of the government's trial scheme for a return to big sporting events. Those who attend have to show evidence of two COVID-19 vaccines or a negative test.
