Prepare for week-long road work in East Ferris

·1 min read

If you’re driving Quae-Quae Road and Derland Road in East Ferris this week, keep an eye out for road crews, as they will be laying down a surface treatment from Tuesday August 2nd to Friday August 5th. The work is weather permitting, so if it’s a nice day, watch out for the workers.

Work begins on Quae-Quae Road on Monday, whereas Derland Road gets its treatment starting on Wednesday. No portion of either road will be closed, but traffic will be reduced to a single lane.

These roads were last done in 2012, so they are due for a new surface treatment. Liquid asphalt is the topping of choice, and over this asphalt emulsion, workers lay down a cover of aggregate, which fully binds and sets within a few days.

The work was included in the municipality’s 2022 budget as “the work has been on our radar for a couple of years,” explained East Ferris’ CAO, Jason Trottier. The total budget for both roads amounts to $489,000.
