See Oakland’s most expensive home for sale, updated 1952 mid-century modern with Bay views

A newly constructed home in Oakland — the Northern California city’s most expensive single-family listing — is a remake of a charming 1952 mid-century modern with spectacular San Francisco Bay views and an open floor plan designed for entertaining.

The five-bedroom, 5,500-square-foot home at 21 Moyer Place in the Montclair neighborhood is priced at $4.5 million, nearly $500,000 higher than the next most expensive active listing, according to Sotheby’s International Realty.

The bright, sleek and contemporary residence “offers the rare opportunity to enjoy a luxurious single-family estate or create three separate residences, including a potential ADU,” according to the property listing. “This newly constructed home blends modern design with the charm of its 1952 mid-century origins, offering spectacular Bay views and an open floor plan that’s perfect for entertaining.”

The home, which also has five bathrooms, sits on nearly a half-acre at the end of cul-de-sac. There are 3,000 square feet of expansive decks, including a rooftop viewing patio. There’s an opportunity to add an additional 1,200 square feet of living space in an unfinished basement.

“Levels can easily be updated so families can live on separate levels,” the listing states.

An elevator has a viewing window and serves all three levels of the home.

Other amenities include: eight-inch oak flooring, a chef’s kitchen and private bar and media room.

Fire safety “was top of mind,” according to the listing agents, when it came to constructing fire-rated walls with four-hour burn, steel staircases on both sides of property and extra fire sprinklers alarms.

The listing agents are Tabatha Petersen and Hope Broderick of The Agency.

The most expensive listing as of Sepember 19, 2024, is this home with five bedrooms and living space spanning 5,500 square feet.
